Mount Carmel pupils, parents and staff here is our next challenge....

As well as spending our time working we felt we needed a bit of a fun focus therefore we have created the #MarathonChallenge

As you may know it should have been the London Marathon this weekend but due to the current government restrictions mass gatherings are not allowed, so the annual 26 mile marathon has been cancelled. We felt Mount Carmel couldn't let this occasion pass without doing something.

Here is the challenge, you can either;

  • Run/walk the full 26 miles over the next week breaking it down into daily miles to add up to the 26
  • Run/walk 2.6 miles over the week breaking it down or doing it all in one go
  • Run the miles as a department or team adding all your miles up to 26
  • Run/walk 26 laps of your garden
  • Go up and down your stairs 26 times
  • Its doesn't matter how you complete it even if its just 26 steps... the challenge is that it adds up to 26 or 2.6 in total.

You can use a fitness tracker like Strava, Fitbit or Map My Run if you have it or you can note your miles on paper as and when you do them (we will trust you to be honest). Please remember all the social distancing regulations and don't walk for too long or too far from your home in one day. Importantly, keep safe if out walking.

Start the challenge this weekend or early next week and aim to complete by Monday 4th May.

Once completed, please can you email a picture of you finishing the challenge along with some details of what you did and what distance you completed to the following email MCchallenge@mountcarmelhigh.lancs.sch.uk

Good Luck
