A group of Mount Carmel pupils have been working with Gemma Atkins from Sure Start Forest Schools and Julie Livesey from Prospects.
The 10 week project was well underway when abruptly stopped due to the Coronavirus pandemic. During the sessions pupils walked to the Forest Schools site and got involved in a range of outdoor activities. These included den building, fire lighting, studying owl pellets, willow planting, making wood 'cookies', campfire cooking and other nature work.
The nurture staff who accompanied them explained how much the pupils had enjoyed the sessions and it has led to further work in school for example planting vegetable seeds, preparing the allotment beds and weeding and tidying the memorial garden.
