On Thursday 18th June we were delighted to have poet and author, Lewis Buxton, join us to work with boys from Year 7 and 8, in fun and engaging poetry workshops.
The initiative was funded by Arts Council England and promoted by Culturapedia. Their aim is to increase engagement of young people within the Hyndburn borough.
Lewis inspired the boys to think of writing as fun. He played word games and quick fire exercises, crafted metaphors and got the boys to tell stories from their own experiences, before encouraging them to put pen to paper and create interesting and amusing poems of their own focusing on 'My home ..' and 'My friends...'
It was a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed by the boys who took part.
