A group of Mount Carmel Year 9 and 10 pupils have been chosen to participate in training to become Mental Health Ambassadors.
Mr Khan, Assistant Curriculum Leader of R.E., PSHCE and RSE commented;
"Pupils have been supported by Paula Swainston from YNot Aspire, who delivered the training, to help the pupils in their journey to becoming support units for pupils in school. The pupils undertook training that will eventually help them run and lead sessions at lunch time for well-being drop-in sessions.
The pupils have learned about the importance of what good and bad Mental Health looks like and how they can use active listening skills to support their peers as well as looking at the importance of asking open question as opposed to closed questions.
The pupils involved have thoroughly enjoyed the training and have got a lot out of the session. This should strengthen the Mental Health provision at Mount Carmel."
