Mount Carmel Year 7 pupils visited Blackpool Zoo. During the visit the 160 pupils selected an animal and studied the enclosure/habitat of it.
Once back at school all year 7 classes created a 'Zoo enclosure project' over a series of lessons to replicate their animal and chosen enclosure. The rectangle at the bottom of the pyramid had to contain information about their animal and its habitat. Each class teacher chose the 5 best enclosures to enter the final of the competition.
Thirty pupils were entered into the final stages of the competition and were awarded a certificate and prize. Headteacher Mr Bowers was asked to judge the final entries. During the judging the pupils had to explain why their habitat is suited to their animal and how their enclosure has been designed in order to replicate its natural habitat.
Congratulations to the overall winner Anna P.G. who was awarded a certificate, badge, book, Top Trumps game, wooden hand-carved giraffe pen, pencil/animal rubbers and a £10 Amazon Voucher.
