Hello, my name is Caroline Farrelly, and I am Deputy Headteacher at Mount Carmel and will be taking over as Headteacher in September. As we break for summer, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself properly.
Firstly, I’m sure I speak for the whole Mount Carmel community in wanting to thank Mr Bowers for his dedication and leadership over the past 15 years. We hope he has a long and happy retirement ahead!
As you will be aware, I have been Deputy Headteacher here at Mount Carmel for the past 6 years and have been responsible for all aspects of the Quality of Education in that time. Over those 6 years we have seen a great improvement in the outcomes secured for our pupils at GCSE and as a team, we are incredibly proud of the progress our pupils make and the doors these results will have opened for them.
As I begin my time as Headteacher my focus will remain on ensuring that strong outcomes continue to be achieved by all and that your children receive high quality teaching alongside excellent pastoral care. As a school community I am determined that we will continue to go from strength to strength and that all at Mount Carmel will strive for excellence in all that we do. To get there, there will not be sweeping changes made but, instead, small, sensible steps that will ensure that your children are on the path to excellence, guided in finding out what their God given talents are and encouraged to SHINE bright!
In September, we want to ensure that all pupils get off to the best start and that they are well-equipped for their learning and are wearing their uniform with pride. When this message goes out, there will be a link to the page on the school’s website which clearly indicates the uniform that is permitted and the equipment that is needed. Please take the time to look at this before you start your uniform shopping over the summer! In September, we will be making checks each morning to ensure that pupils are wearing the correct uniform and have the equipment that they need for the day. Here is a link to the uniform page on our website.
Speaking of September, we will look forward to welcoming our Year 7 pupils ONLY on Thursday 3rd September and ALL other Year groups on Friday 4th September. But, before then, I hope you and your families have a long and relaxing summer break and that the sun continues to shine! I look forward to working with you all next school year but, until then, take care!
