A tree planting ceremony in Mount Carmel's ECO garden took place in the week after the Coronation of King Charles III with a time capsule also being buried.

Representatives from Mount Carmel governing body enjoyed refreshments with Headteacher Mr Bowers, the Head Boy and Head Girl Harrison and Laiba and members of the pupil council before going to the ECO garden for a short presentation and the planting of the commemorative tree.

Harrison and Laiba thanked everyone for joining them in celebrating the historic, special occasion.

"Mr Bowers commented "As we gather to mark this significant moment in UK history, we are reminded of the importance of unity and resilience in times of challenge. Let us take inspiration from this momentous occasion to continue striving towards a better future for all."

A time capsule was also buried in the ground containing a collection of artefacts reflecting both the school and the country in 2023 and selected by members of the pupil council to be discovered many years in the future!

The event concluded with the national anthem being played by Mount Carmel brass band, led by music teacher Miss Javaid.

This concluded the many commemorations and activities that were organised for Mount Carmel pupils for the Coronation of the new King in May 2023 co-ordinated by Assistant Headteacher Mr Hill.
